About the role

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Market Leader to join our team in Milwaukee, WI. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in business development, client relations, and delivery of municipal water, wastewater, and stormwater engineering projects. This role will be based in our Milwaukee office and will serve as a key leadership team member in growing our business in the Midwest.

Responsibilities

  • Oversight of employee administration, sales, client development, and client relationship management
  • Proposal writing and contract scope, schedule, and price preparation
  • Leadership of the client service team
  • Collaboration with the Midwest Area Leader and other team members to develop and execute the local business plan
  • Client portfolio management, initiative management, project delivery oversight, and/or total labor management
  • Strategic market planning, identification of emerging opportunities, and support of employee engagement and resource balancing
  • Revenue growth, client development, and enterprise-wide alignment to meet business goals
  • Strategic decision-making, budgeting, and cross-functional leadership to ensure sustained success and client satisfaction throughout the project lifecycle
  • Meeting the demands of evolving the market, balancing company resources for growth and delivery, and improving development and career advancement opportunities for employees
  • Supporting the Area Directors in managing operations, including staffing levels, overhead allocation strategies, and operational metrics
  • Developing and expanding client relationships that generate repeat business for the lifecycle of the project and inclusive of all services provided by BC
  • Communicating change and business decisions across the area and organization
  • Leading the development and implementation of a market sector strategic business/action plan by identifying market drivers, market trends, and client needs
  • Preparing effective technical proposals and taking an active leadership role in developing profitable business with new and existing clients
  • Identifying and developing key clients and serving as the CSM for select key clients
  • Supporting other CSMs in advancing client relationships, converting opportunities into revenue using BC's proven Plan To Win capture strategy, and encouraging technical practice diversification
  • Making new client Go-No Go (GNG) decisions based on financial stability and market sector strategy
  • Making final pursuit GNG decisions and supporting select pursuits through client relationship development or strategy development
  • Participating in strategic business planning processes and construction of bottoms-up annual budgeting
  • Leading, developing, and coaching a high-performing team by setting clear expectations, providing feedback, and fostering a culture of engagement, growth, and accountability
  • Liaising with the Area, Growth, Project Delivery, and BU leadership to support planned/forecasted goals for total revenue, net revenue, total direct labor (DL; import + source), and indirect labor (IDL)
  • Supporting workload planning, performance management, and team operations to align resources with business priorities
  • Adapting and executing various additional assignments based on evolving needs

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in increasing responsibility roles including operational management of a division or similar Profit and Loss center leadership experience
  • Experience in environmental consulting, engineering, construction, and operations industry
  • Previous leadership experience and experience mentoring employees
  • Experience growing services within established market areas
  • Experience managing a large portfolio with a substantial impact on the business
  • Experience managing successfully within a similar division-based business model
  • Experience within the Water / Wastewater Industry is strongly preferred

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or Construction Management, Science, or equivalent experience required
  • Strong financial acumen, budgeting, and resource allocation knowledge
  • Excellent coach, developer, and leader of staff at all levels
  • Well organized, detail oriented, and strong prioritization skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team/virtual environment
  • Ability to lead others through influence in a consistent, positive manner
  • Demonstrated financial acumen including financial responsibility within the market area and associated market sectors
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively across varied audiences

Skills

  • Ability to lead with influence, driving the achievement of strategic objectives
  • Deep knowledge of business and financial principles, demonstrating an aptitude for profit and loss management
  • Proven track record of hiring and/or building high performing teams and leaders
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a motivated self-starter and team player
  • Experience managing a large portfolio with a substantial impact on the business
  • Experience managing successfully within a similar division-based business model
  • Experience within the Water / Wastewater Industry is strongly preferred
