About the Role

The Wire Cutter is responsible for efficiently and accurately fulfilling orders for wire and cable cuts utilizing material handling equipment and wire reeling/coiling machinery. Ensures wire/cable is stored, staged, and cut in a manner that meets company standards for safety, security, accuracy, and productivity. May be required to fill in for other warehouse roles.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to a culture and environment focused daily on employee safety and a safe work environment.
  • Follow established Standard Operating Procedures, Environmental Health and Safety Rules, and immediately address safety concerns.
  • Perform daily machine checks and operate material handling equipment and powered material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Retrieve and cut wire efficiently and accurately for requested customer shipments.
  • Examine wire for conformance to specifications and remove defective pieces.
  • Fill all orders efficiently and accurately, ensuring outbound shipments are accurate and free of damage.
  • Place reel of specified wire onto payout spindle of machine and thread wire through feed rolls; adjust machine controls as needed.
  • Stack and store merchandise in the appropriate area and stage wire cuts in the designated shipping area.
  • Maintain a minimum standard in wire cuts in compliance with current company policies for accuracy and productivity.
  • Report any damage to electronic hardware, work machines, or pipe racks immediately to a supervisor.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of wire cutting experience preferred.
  • Prior warehouse or distribution center experience a plus.
  • Certification to operate forklift, hand truck, pallet jack, and other warehouse equipment preferred.
  • If required to make deliveries:
    • Must have a valid driver's license.
    • Must be at least 21 years of age.
    • Must pass a pre-employment and annual review of Motor Vehicle Record.
    • Must obtain verification of non-expired medical certificate as required by law within 60 days of hire.
    • Must not have had a suspended driver's license for a traffic accident/violation within the past 3 years.
    • Must not have any at-fault accidents in the past 3 years.
  • High School diploma or GED preferred.

Skills

  • Knowledge of Radio Frequency scanning devices preferred.
  • Willingness to be trained on material handling equipment (e.g., forklift, stand-up reach truck, high-reach narrow-aisle, stand-up rider pallet jack) conforming to OSHA safety training requirements.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers.
  • Ability to handle basic issues and problems.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations to accurately complete job tasks.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and work overtime as needed.
  • Basic computer knowledge.

Physical Demands

  • Sit: Frequently (21% to 50%) – must be able to remain in a stationary position.
  • Walk: Constantly (at least 51%) – must be able to move about inside/outside the work location.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel: Constantly (at least 51%) – operates computers and other office machinery.
  • Stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl: Frequently (21% to 50%) – must be able to crouch to stock shelves or pick up boxes.
  • Climb or balance: Occasionally (up to 20%) – must be able to ascend/descend ladders, forklifts, or other warehouse equipment.
  • Talk, hear, taste, smell: Constantly (at least 51%) – must use senses to communicate and detect hazardous conditions.
  • Weight and Force Demands:
    • Up to 10 pounds: Constantly (at least 51%).
    • Up to 25 pounds: Constantly (at least 51%).
    • Up to 50 pounds: Constantly (at least 51%).

Working Environment

  • Exposed to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise levels and/or exposure to heat and cold: Constantly (at least 51%).
  • Exposed to electrical hazards and risk of electrical shock: Occasionally (up to 20%).
  • Handles or works with potentially dangerous equipment: Frequently (21% to 50%).
  • Travels to offsite locations: Occasionally (up to 20%).

Pay

For the state of Washington only, the pay range is $26.00 to $31.00 per hour, depending upon qualifications, experience, and other considerations permitted by law.
