Winter Building and Grounds Maintenance

About the role

Norwich Meadows Farm LLC is hiring 8 full‑time H‑2A seasonal workers for Winter Building and Grounds maintenance from November 8, 2026 through April 1, 2027. The crew will work at three locations caring for over 55 acres of structures, including high tunnels, greenhouses, storage facilities, and farm machinery during the winter season.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sanitize and prepare farm machinery (5 commercial trucks, 4 commercial vans, 3 passenger buses, 14 tractors and other equipment) for winter storage and prepare for spring planting.
• Clean and repair high tunnels, installing wooden or steel braces to support snow loads.
• Clear heavy snowfall from structures, lanes, farm roads and between structures.
• Operate 75‑115 HP tractors with snow plow blades, pickup trucks with snow plows and front‑end loaders to move snow to disposal locations; use hand tools as needed.
• Repair or replace damaged high tunnels (plastic, doors) due to wind storm damage.
• Regularly clear and clean snow off 220 high tunnels and 6 nursery greenhouses.
• Clean, sanitize and maintain storage facilities; perform deep cleaning of empty greenhouses (removing grow tables, etc.) for disinfectant cleaning.
• Check storage unit temperatures and ensure AC units are functioning; report status to supervisors.
• Monitor storage crop holding areas for quality; cull and remove decaying product to maintain overall quality.
• Prepare greenhouses and high tunnels for the following season’s plantings.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 months experience performing the tasks described.
• Ability to comprehend simple oral and written instructions.
• Physically able to lift up to 80 pounds.
• Possess or obtain a standard driver’s license to operate pickup trucks on NYS and county highways.
• Willing to submit to random drug tests conducted by the employer at employer’s expense (post‑hire).
• Ability to work in extreme temperatures, perform repetitive movements, extensive pushing/pulling, walking/sitting, and frequent stooping/bending.
