About the role
The Wholesale Mortgage Loan Assistant is responsible for lending activities through the established wholesale network and building broker relationships via direct contact, trade shows, and marketing events to originate wholesale loan products while maintaining profitability and excellent customer service for broker clients.
Responsibilities
- Generate high-quality residential loans that conform to wholesale and underwriting policy.
- Present information to the Credit Committee.
- Ensure appropriate lending and credit policies and procedures are followed.
- Provide leadership to embed the company’s mission and core values into daily practices.
- Develop, support, and enforce sound bank policies and procedures.
- Perform administrative duties related to human resource documentation, including staffing, performance reviews, disciplinary actions, job descriptions, attendance, and time-off requests.
- Manage the Lending Assistant, ensuring adherence to responsibilities and obligations.
- Evaluate and document the performance of assigned employees.
- Ensure the company’s mission and core values are followed and practiced.
- Interact proactively with customers and prospects to deliver an outstanding experience for each loan transaction.
- Engage with the real estate agent community and attorneys.
- Collaborate effectively with all Residential Mortgage Department staff to improve teamwork, efficiency, and continuous improvement.
- Support and enforce sound departmental and bank-wide policies and procedures.
- Assist co-workers in reaching departmental goals.
- Communicate effectively with others.
- Perform other related duties as required to accomplish the objectives of the position.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from an accredited college or university; advanced graduate degree preferred.
- Three to five years of related experience and/or training in all aspects of lending; or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Skills
- Excellent interpersonal relationship skills to effectively interact with customers and represent the company professionally.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Proficient in various computer software and banking applications; Encompass or other loan processing software is a plus.
- In-depth knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to ensure confidentiality, security, and safekeeping of bank and customer information.
- Consistent attendance and punctuality; ensures work responsibilities are covered when absent.
- Excellent human relations skills with customers and bank associates.
- Willingness to participate as a team member and tackle new assignments.
