WGL - HR Advisor
About the role
This role is ideal for an experienced HR Generalist who thrives in employee relations and advisory work and is looking to step into a more business-facing role.
Responsibilities
- Provide consultative HR guidance to managers and employees, ensuring alignment with business strategy, organizational priorities, and external market practices
- Lead the application and continuous improvement of HR policies, programs, and procedures, ensuring they are practical, accessible, and consistently applied across the business
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers on a broad range of employee lifecycle matters, including performance, promotions, leaves, and workplace concerns, enabling confident and consistent decision-making
- Coach and support managers in handling day-to-day employee relations matters, while appropriately escalating more complex or high-risk situations to HRBPs or Legal
- Support and, where appropriate, lead performance management and employee relations processes, including disciplinary actions, severance considerations, and exits, with a strong understanding of Canadian employment legislation and common law
- Partner closely with HRBPs and Centres of Expertise to deliver key initiatives, including organizational changes, workforce planning, and talent strategies, while taking ownership of execution within the client group
- Provide reporting, insights, and data-driven recommendations to support workforce decisions, identify trends, and improve overall effectiveness
- Contribute to succession planning, talent reviews, and development initiatives, helping to strengthen leadership capability at the manager level
- Maintain accurate employee records and documentation, ensuring compliance, data integrity, and operational excellence
- Promote and enable the use of employee self-service tools and streamlined processes to improve efficiency and manager experience
- Partner with Talent Acquisition as needed to support hiring processes, including job scoping, headcount validation, and onboarding coordination
Requirements
- 5+ years of progressive HR experience, with a strong foundation in employee relations, performance management, and HR advisory
- Proven ability to partner directly with managers to navigate employee matters, including performance, conduct, and day-to-day HR decision-making
- Strong judgment and confidence managing sensitive situations, balancing employee experience with business needs
- Experience operating in a fast-paced, complex, or regulated environment with multiple stakeholders
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage competing, time-sensitive priorities
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with HR Business Partners and Centres of Excellence to support broader HR initiatives
- Interest and capability to grow into more strategic HR partnership work over time
Qualifications
- Proven track record of success in HR roles
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Understanding of Canadian employment legislation and common law
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite

Pay
A competitive salary range of $95,400 - $138,075 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
