Responsibilities
- Utilize FRTH’s electronic health records system (EHR) to enter relevant patient information needed for patient care, referrals, and billing.
- Answer and greet patients and visitors in a cheerful and courteous manner.
- Absorb and assist patients with scheduling appointments, both in person and by phone, and perform checkout duties.
- Cancel and notify providers of no-show patients electronically.
- Maintain a daily review of notifications for future appointments.
- Verify and update patient contact information at the time of visit.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient records.
- Assist patients with their needs and refer them to appropriate departments.
- Schedule and complete in-house referrals for specialty services.
- Maintain the Wellness Center front desk and stock supplies.
- Maintain a signature log of patients checking in to the Wellness Center.
- Utilize credit card machines for collecting co-pays or deductibles and provide accurate information to supervisors for submission to the Fiscal Department.
- Aid patients with form completion and ensure consents are signed and scanned into the EHR.
- Ensure appropriate documentation is submitted to the patient’s resource and handle prior authorization requests as necessary.
- Inform patients about financial responsibilities for services rendered, including use of billable resources and PRC guidelines.
- Assist with various duties as required and serve as a backup for other staff within the Outreach department.
- Attend staff trainings and meetings as required.
- Maintain the reception area in a clean and organized condition.
- Learn and implement electronic health records functions as they evolve.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED certificate.
- Understanding of medical terminology preferred.
- Computer skills and ability to utilize a variety of programs.
- Ability to pass a typing test for at least 35 words per minute.

- Ability to handle multiple phone lines professionally.
- Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
- Knowledge of patient eligibility standards.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient health information.
- Proficiency in typing at least 35 words per minute.
