About the role
This Wellness Attendant supports the work of the YMCA, a leading non-profit organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The role educates and enforces operational guidelines with all members, maintains weight training equipment, and keeps the Wellness Center organized and clean.
Responsibilities
- Monitor wellness areas and greet members in a positive and cheerful manner.
- Assist members while they are using the facility and circulate throughout the shift.
- Wear a staff shirt, name tag, appropriate workout pants, shorts, and shoes during the entire shift.
- Maintain a neat and clean Wellness Center by performing all outlined cleaning duties, shift checklist, and addressing any areas that need immediate attention.
- Responsible for care, return, and storage of all equipment.
- Fill all disinfectant bottles, replace towels, wipes, and other supplies as needed.
- Perform laundry duties (wash, dry, and fold cleaning towels) during the entire shift.
- Document all maintenance and equipment issues/repairs to the Maintenance Director.
- Control occupancy of the Wellness Center during the entire shift.
- Exercise sound judgment in relationship to member safety and injuries.
- Take prospective members on tours of the facility with knowledge of YMCA practices, procedures, and rules.
- Attend all staff meetings and in-house training designated by the supervisor.
- Follow YMCA policies and procedures; respond to emergency situations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Age 17+
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications; Bloodborne Pathogens and Child Abuse Prevention training (within 30 days of hire date).
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with adults and youth.
