Welding - Adjunct Instructor

About the Role

Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia with campuses in Franklin and Suffolk and a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, career studies certificates, credit and non-credit workforce services, special interest classes, and summer youth programs, as well as dual enrollment, online courses, and developmental studies.

Responsibilities

• Effectively plan and teach courses in a classroom environment to students with a variety of academic backgrounds and experiences
• Create a learning environment that facilitates students' acquisition of knowledge and skills in a subject through instructional design, delivery, effectiveness, and expertise
• Engage in scholarly and creative activity, which may include conference attendance and presentation, professional organizations participation, academic coursework, scholarly research and publications, and grant activity
• Participate in the college's development and evaluation plan for part-time teaching faculty
• Participate in required department, committee, and college meetings
• Adhere to college and VCCS policies
• Maintain a collegial working relationship with faculty and staff
• Participate in and commit to students, college, and/or community organizations

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• Associate's or equivalent in Welding (as noted in the VCCS-29)
• 5 years of related work experience

Preferred Qualifications

• College teaching experience
• Ability to effectively communicate via email and telephone
• Ability to use Microsoft Word and related software

Schedule

Monday – Thursday, 5PM to 9PM. Evening Weekly Instructor. Teaching responsibilities vary as needed and may include on- and off-campus, day, evening, distance learning, and weekend classes. Adjunct faculty may teach a total of 12 workload credits in each term (fall and spring) and 8 workload credits in the summer term.

Pay

$793 per credit hour
