Paul D. Camp Community College is a small 2-year college in Southeast Virginia with campuses in Franklin and Suffolk, and a center in Smithfield. The college offers associate degrees, certificates, and career studies certificates in transfer and career/technical programs; credit and non-credit workforce services; special interest classes; and summer programs for youth. This position involves teaching dual enrollment courses at Isle Maritime Trades Academy located at the Smithfield Center, allowing students to earn both high school and college credit.

About the Role

Dual Enrollment Instructors teach college-level welding courses at the high school, covering both high school and college content at a rigorous level. Instructors must conform to all college policies and procedures for dual enrollment courses, ensuring equivalency in pedagogical standards, student learning outcomes, syllabi components, content rigor, and assessment. Evaluations will follow the college’s adjunct faculty evaluation process.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the following welding courses:
    • Welding 100 - Fundamentals of Welding
    • Welding 123 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Basic)
    • Welding 124 - Shielded Metal Arc Welding (Advanced)
    • Welding 134 - Insert Gas Welding
    • Welding 135 - Welding III
    • Welding 141 - Welding Qualification
  • Align course content with college department standards, including student learning outcomes, syllabi, rigor, and assessment.
  • Adhere to college policies and procedures for dual enrollment instruction.
  • Participate in adjunct faculty evaluations as required by the college.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting during emergency declarations by the Governor.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in the academic field or a master’s degree with 18 graduate semester hours in the discipline.
  • Teaching experience in the discipline is preferred.

Pay

$1,036–$1,200 per credit hour.

Schedule

  • Part-time, 20–30 hours per week.
  • 18 weeks per year.
  • Work schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:15 AM–3:00 PM.
  • Location: Camp’s Center at Smithfield.
