Welder II - 2nd Shift

About the role
The Welder is responsible for operating welding equipment to build high-quality parts, subassemblies, and finished products. Weldments vary in type, size, and direction and are performed on a variety of production lines. The Welder will also weld/rework various products using different weld techniques, including flat, vertical, and overhead positions.
Responsibilities
- Heat and form metal parts and components using hand tools, torch, plasma cutter, carbon arc, or other welding equipment; properly position material/parts to be welded.
- Operate an overhead crane to maneuver parts safely into place; adjust welding current to proper weld configurations.
- Accurately operate and read measuring devices.
- Maintain a safe and clean work environment in compliance with safety procedures, rules, and proper 6S standards.
- Train and work in various areas of production in response to production demands.
- Position, assemble, and weld various metal parts as outlined on blueprints.
- Operate robot/Tube welder and work in all workstations within the weld area; startup, operate, and troubleshoot.
- Perform rework on raw material, finished machines, and out-of-process welding activities.
Requirements
- One (1) year of applicable position experience or an evaluated equivalent.
- Passed weld test either through pre-employment test or through internal weld program.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Knowledge of a minimum of three (3) weld stations without assistance and proficiency in training others on these stations.
- Ability to perform job tasks within one station with little to no quality defects or guidance.
- Willingness to learn to change their own wire.
- Proficiency in Class A/B surface welding.
- Ability to weld on a truck chassis (Dodge Center only).
- Understanding of quality defects within weld on product in multiple areas.
- Willingness to perform rework.
- Two (2) or more years of applicable position experience.
Skills
- Read, write, and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
- Read and interpret safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Read, analyze, and interpret business manuals, technical procedures, blueprints, and/or government regulations.
- Effective communication with peers and others to gather or explain information.
Working Conditions
- Physical Demands: Frequent standing, walking/running, sitting, reaching, hearing, talking, visual, and typing. Occasional climbing, bending/kneeling, fine and manual dexterity, upper extremity repetitive motion, lifting/carrying up to 25 lbs., pushing/pulling up to 25 lbs.
- Non-Physical Demands: Occasional analysis/reasoning, communication/interpretation, math/mental computation, reading, sustained mental activity, and writing.
- Environmental Demands: Occasional work alone, frequent task changes, tedious/exacting work, exposure to dust, temperature extremes, and loud noises.
- Work Schedule: Routine shift hours with infrequent overtime, weekend, or shift rotation. Occasional stress due to deadlines or workload.
Pay
Pay Range: $21 - $29.12 per hour, with a $2/hour shift differential for 2nd shift only.
