About the role
The Welder / Fitter I position at Daifuku Automotive America Corporation is essential for supporting production processes through fitting, adjusting parts, tacking, and MIG welding steel. This role also involves visual inspections, preparing and finishing workpieces, and adhering to safety protocols.
Responsibilities
- Lays out, positions, and secures parts and fabricates material according to specifications
- Tack-welds or welds components and projects
- Prepares and finishes workpiece, using portable grinder, or scraper
- Welds components in all positions
- Ensures welds meet standards and specifications
- Performs precision layout tasks and precisely fits together structural parts and components
- Reads and works to engineered drawings and welding symbols
- Performs shop mathematical calculations
- Fulfills safety guidelines, practices, and procedures
- Maintains a clean and safe work area
- Uses personal protective equipment when required
- Meets and exceeds production goals
- Attentively watches for material defects and quality issues
- Capable of lifting 25-50 lbs and working overtime as needed
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing / fabrication welding
- Intermediate blueprint reading knowledge
- Ability to use welding tools, forklifts, and overhead crane experience (in-house training available)
- Team player with a high sense of urgency
- Physically capable of standing, walking, bending, pushing, pulling, reaching, twisting, lifting 25-50 lbs, and working in noisy environments
Qualifications
- Must have the ability to pass a AWS D.1.1 3G vertical metal core pulse transfer weld qualification
- Intermediate technical or vocational education/training in relation to welding skills
- Must have the ability to pass a background check and pre-employment drug test
Skills
- Intermediate blueprint reading knowledge
- Knowledge of machine operation, cutting, sawing, drilling, and grinding parts
- Intermediate technical or vocational education/training in relation to welding skills
