Fitter/Welder - 2nd Shift

About the role

Miller Industries is seeking a Welder/Fitter for our 2nd Shift at our Burton, Michigan location. The hours are 5 p.m. to 3:30 a.m., Monday - Friday, with overtime as required for production on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Read engineered drawings, cut, weld, and assemble materials (steel, stainless, aluminum) for custom products.
• Ensure products are fabricated, welded, and installed according to engineered drawings.
• Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
• Recognize, set up, and operate hand and power tools common to the welding trade, such as shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment.
• Assist with the layout, positioning, alignment, and securing of parts and assemblies prior to assembly, using straightedges, combination squares, calipers, and rulers.
• Take pride in work quality and customer service.
• Work closely with team members to fulfill customer orders accurately and on time.
• Maintain a professional and clean workspace; assist in shop housekeeping.

Requirements

• Proficiency in MIG welding HRS, stainless steel, and aluminum.
• Ability to read cut lists and engineering drawings for cutting and assembling materials.
• Mechanical abilities; skill in using tools such as saws, drills, grinders, cut-off wheels, clamps, levels, and tape measures.
• Integrity, energy, creativity, and a positive attitude.
• Critical thinking, good judgment, and ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong safety mindset; willingness to promote our safety culture.
• Ability to work independently without constant supervision.

Physical & Mental Requirements

• Physical and mental strength and endurance to perform duties in extreme environments.
• Ability to handle stressors in operational and administrative situations.
• Frequently lift and move 10-50 pounds.
• Stand, sit, walk, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, bend, and operate objects, tools, and controls.

Pay

Competitive hourly rate based on experience and expertise, plus a $2 per hour shift premium.
