About the role
The Welder is responsible for welding fabricated parts to print and specifications, preparing steel, cast iron, aluminum, and stainless-steel materials for welding, and ensuring quality work that meets or exceeds expectations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare steel parts for arc, gas, or MIG welding.
- Weld materials of limited thickness where the finished weld is not stressed.
- Recommend improvements for area products and processes.
- Report labor correctly and in a timely manner.
- Practice good communication and interact professionally in the plant.
- Produce quality work within expected time frames.
- Adhere to 5-S standards in the work area.
- Communicate discrepancies or errors on prints and materials lists.
- Collaborate with teams on second and third shifts to improve productivity and quality.
- Perform additional duties as specified by the Assembly Lead.
- Produce and maintain consistent quality of work, including dressing and grinding parts after welding.
- Demonstrate flexibility in high-stress, emergency situations, or priority changes.
- Work safely and in an environmentally responsible manner.
Requirements
- 2-5 years of related experience or training.
- High School diploma or equivalent technical school training.
- Ability to read and comprehend blueprints/diagrams.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong organization skills and willingness to learn.
- Ability to demonstrate personal leadership and actively participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts.
- Demonstrated flexibility in high-stress situations, priority changes, or new assignments.
