About the role
The Welder I is responsible for performing various welding and fabrication tasks to produce precision parts and components. This role requires a strong focus on safety, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Perform various welding and fabrication tasks to produce precision parts and components.
- Work under the supervision of senior welders and supervisors to ensure production goals are met while adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Maintain safe work habits, recognize hazards, and ensure hand safety.
- Implement lockout/tagout procedures to control hazardous energy.
- Safely operate forklifts and powered pallet jacks.
- Perform crane pre-use inspections, operation, and rigging.
- Ensure machine guarding and E-Stop awareness/operation.
- Follow JM Life Critical Policies.
- Manage waste streams including scrap metal and environmental considerations.
- Comprehend and sign off on Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization in the work area.
- Understand and use common hand and power tools effectively.
- Use precision measuring tools such as tape measures, scales, micrometers, and calipers.
- Apply basic shop math including measurements, geometry, volume, and area.
- Interpret blueprints and understand entry-level GD&T including the ability to identify weld symbols.
- Maintain welding equipment and tools in good working condition.
- Demonstrate the ability to collaborate with team members to complete projects on time.
- Set-up a welding machine in order to perform necessary tasks.
- Set-up and use fixturing to complete necessary fabrication tasks.
- Ability to perform basic welding of carbon steel, stainless steel, Inconel, and aluminum.
- Understand heat control and its effects on alloys.
- Complete visual inspections on welds for cracks and porosity.
- Complete pressure testing of welded parts to inspect for weld quality.
- Use various fabrication shop equipment such as shear, plate roller operations, hydraulic press break, hand break, foot shear, swaging, and flaring.
- Ability to weld in multiple positions/angles.
- Meet or exceed minimum standard times for assigned tasks.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols.
- At least 1 year of welding/fabrication operational experience.
- Associate degree or certificate in Welding or similar program from an accredited institution preferred.
- 3+ years of welding experience preferred.
- Experience with all disciplines of welding preferred.
Skills
- Basic computer skills including Microsoft O365 applications.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Ability to use precision measuring tools such as tape measures, scales, micrometers, and calipers.
- Ability to apply basic shop math including measurements, geometry, volume, and area.
- Ability to interpret blueprints and understand entry-level GD&T including the ability to identify weld symbols.
- Ability to perform visual inspections on welds for cracks and porosity.
- Ability to complete pressure testing of welded parts to inspect for weld quality.
- Ability to use various fabrication shop equipment such as shear, plate roller operations, hydraulic press break, hand break, foot shear, swaging, and flaring.
- Ability to weld in multiple positions/angles.
- Ability to meet or exceed minimum standard times for assigned tasks.

Pay and Schedule
Pay Range: $39,800.00 - $54,700.00 Annual. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

- AlloyWelding: High proficiency in TIG welding (GTAW).
- Fabrication: Ability to fabricate to completion various products using provided kit of materials using SOP's, blueprints and retained knowledge with little or no oversight.
- Inspection: Ability to complete dye penetrant testing of welded parts to inspect for weld quality.

Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and move materials up to 50 pounds.
- Standing for extended periods.
- Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.
