About the role
Join our dedicated team as a Welder in Raymond, MS. Since 1946, Hunter Engineering has been a global leader in automotive service equipment, with products used by top vehicle manufacturers, tire companies, and service centers worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Positions parts in jigs or fixtures on bench or floor, or clamps parts together along layout marks.
- Selects torch, torch tip, filler rod and flux, according to welding chart specifications or type and thickness of metal.
- Connects regulator valves and hoses to oxygen and fuel gas cylinders, and welding torch.
- Turns regulator valves to activate flow of gases, lights torch and adjusts gas mixture and pressure, to obtain desired flame.
- Holds torch at proper angle to metal and guides along weld joint, applying filler rod to molten area to form weld.
- Examines weld for bead size and other specifications.
- Repairs broken or cracked metal objects, fills holes, and builds up metal parts.
- Lays out, positions, and tack welds workpieces.
- Welds along vertical or overhead weld lines.
- Chips or grinds off excess weld, slag, or spatter.
- Cleans or degreases parts.
Requirements
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- A welding certificate preferred.
- The ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
- The ability to read blueprints and read measuring equipment.
Qualifications
- Must be able to perform physical tasks such as standing, bending, reaching, lifting, and carrying.
- Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.
- Must be able to follow safety procedures and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

Pay
$27.75 as the starting rate with $0.50 shift differential, and opportunities for advancement in level and pay. Total pay is $28.25.
Schedule
This position is for our 2nd shift (3:30pm-12am, Monday-Friday).
