Weigher Grader - Seasonal

About the role

This is an entry level position responsible for the operation of the grain elevator as it pertains to loading, unloading and transferring grain and grain products in an efficient, safe and sanitary manner. Also assists or leads in all other aspects of grain handling, storage, maintaining facilities/equipment and elevator operations.

Responsibilities

• Operate the PLC and necessary equipment for operating the grain elevator.
• Properly and accurately weigh and sample all inbound and outbound grain and grain products.
• Aid in maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the grain handling area and other areas within the plant or office as delegated by position supervisor.
• Calibrate and conduct cross checks for grain testing equipment and weighing equipment (including truck scales).
• Conduct applicable toxin testing on inbound and outbound grain and package samples for shipment/storage.
• Record and report any errors or irregularities in a timely manner.
• Develop product knowledge and handle hazardous properties of products.
• Comply with all applicable safety and environmental regulations.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred.
• One (1) year of grain industry experience is preferred.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a safety-conscious environment.
• Ability to work in a quality-controlled environment.

Qualifications

• Regularly walk, bend and stoop.
• Regularly climb stairs and ladders.
• Regularly lift up to 75 pounds.
• Regularly enter and work in confined spaces.

Skills

• Knowledge of grain handling and storage procedures.
• Ability to operate PLC and related equipment.
• Proficiency in grain testing and sampling techniques.
• Understanding of safety and environmental regulations.

Pay

Starting pay up to $15/hr. (dependent on experience)

Weekly pay and overtime opportunity

USD $16.00/Hr. (for certain positions)
