Weekend Inventory Clerk

About the role

As our weekend Inventory/Shipping clerk, you will be part of a team responsible for various operational duties in the inventory and shipping department. This position requires a high degree of independence, and you will work on products unsupervised with maximum efficiency. You will support the Lean process to promote cost reductions, maximize profitable growth, provide excellent customer service and quality, and promote Continuous Improvement and Safety.

Responsibilities

• Learn how to read and understand a work order traveler packet
• Responsible for releasing, printing, and building kits for the production floor
• Induct parts into inventory and issue finished goods ready for final inspection
• Package shipments, process shipping labels, and drop off to shipping facilities when needed
• Understand the layout of an inventory room and inventory locations throughout the facility
• Handle, store, and package all components safely and without damage
• Follow all instructions provided for daily and weekly tasks
• Maintain a safe, clean working environment in compliance with Winchester policies and procedures
• Perform all labor, parts, and related transactions on time and accurately in compliance with Winchester policies and procedures
• Accurate data entry when performing inventory and shipping transactions
• Collaborate across Winchester to lead by example, hold people accountable, and use data to make informed decisions
• Work with management, employees, vendors, and customers to positively impact the organization
• Work with planning to set priorities and release work orders according to scheduling and deadlines
• Communicate with quality and sales to ensure proper and timely movement of product to meet OTD metrics
• Alert engineering to any issues with paperwork or workflow associated with work orders and locations
• Investigate operational problems affecting production; report and recommend solutions
• Ensure written processes translate into efficient and reliable production; recommend changes to Engineering as required
• Continually seek ways to simplify operations, invest, and/or rationalize costs

Requirements

• Ability to train on the main shift before transitioning to second shift (Friday–Sunday, 6:00 AM – 6:30 PM)
• Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills to support product assembly and manufacturing
• Ability to lift 50 lbs
• Forklift experience a plus
• Basic knowledge of small parcel shipping systems (e.g., UPS, FedEx) and ERP systems
• Capable of working independently, staying on task, and managing multiple priorities with deadlines
• Basic understanding of drawings, work instructions, and computer data entry skills
• Use software to issue components to build kits with accuracy
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to provide feedback

• Willing to drop off packages to local vendors or shipping facilities
