Job Summary
The Youth Care Advocate ensures professional, safe care in a secure environment, applying YMCA, DCF, and DEEC policies. They interact and counsel clients, maintaining a positive role model and encouraging self-worth.
Program/Department Responsibilities
- Closely monitor clients' daily activities and night routines, ensuring compliance with program rules and regulations.
- Plan, implement, and supervise activities during free time for clients.
- Conduct thorough intake and discharge procedures, including paperwork and client belongings management.
- Complete required paperwork and documentation, such as log entries, incident reports, and security sheets.
- Prevent and manage crisis situations, using therapeutic crisis intervention skills and physical restraints if necessary.
- Attend and participate in required program meetings and professional trainings.
- Maintain required certifications and adhere to CARF standards.
- Work as part of a team, following policies and procedures, and adhering to the YMCA, DCF, and DEEC policies.
- Assume PIC responsibilities as assigned, ensuring emergency procedures are posted and followed.
- Assist other OCY programs as directed.
- Provide professional and courteous telephone service when needed.
Requirements
- High school education or equivalent.
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Ability to read and write cohesively for incident reporting.
- Completion of yearly DEEC requirements and OCY training programs.
