About the role

The Weekend Controls Technician will assume advanced tasks relating to the production machines and will troubleshoot all electrical and mechanical problems on equipment, including PLC controls. This position is responsible for analyzing equipment to troubleshoot problems and making any necessary repairs to electrical, mechanical, or PLC programming changes related to production reliability.

This position will train on the day shift for up to 2 months before transitioning into the evening shift.

Responsibilities

  • Observes functioning of installed equipment to detect hazards, problems, and the need for service, repair, and/or replacement of electrical and mechanical components.
  • Proficiently use ladder logic programming with experience in the Allen Bradley platform, including RS Logix 500 and 5000.
  • Work efficiently with work order system (EAM) to document repairs and preventative maintenance throughout the plant.
  • Traces problems using electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and hydraulic components.
  • Discusses performance issues and improvement ideas with pertinent technical staff.
  • Maintains backups of programs from all electrical devices.
  • Checks newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.
  • Use basic Servo Controls (open and closed loop systems) and set up variable frequency drive operations and parameters.
  • Perform basic motor operation and troubleshooting on Servo motors, brushed DC motors, and Induction motors.
  • Works closely with the Custom Equipment Process Group (CEPG) on machine improvements.
  • Properly use a digital multimeter.
  • Works closely with maintenance and is able to assist with troubleshooting electrical problems and provide PLC-support across the plant.
  • Concisely and accurately documents set-points and parameters for equipment.

Requirements

  • 2 years experience in a closely related role is required.
  • Associate’s degree in a technical-related field is strongly preferred.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift and aerial platform licenses.
  • Enterprise Asset Management software experience.
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office Suite programs proficiently.

Pay

Starting at $27/hr, based on experience, plus a $3 shift differential.

Schedule

Friday - Sunday, 6:00 AM - 6:00 PM.
