In north Iowa, our clinics are made up of more than 25 primary care, pediatric, internal medicine and specialty clinics.
As an OR Aide at MercyOne, you will be responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment and the decontamination and assembly of instruments for the OR and throughout the hospital and Mercy Family clinics. The OR Aide / Instrument Technician is responsible for the OR case carts being properly setup and assures that all the instruments necessary to do the procedure are on the cart, ready for surgical use. As a member of the surgical team, helps to provide a safe and secure environment for patients and staff. The surgical nurse aide assists in the implementation of the AORN Standards of Care, MercyOne North Iowa and Operating Room Policies and Procedures.

Requirements
- No experience required
- Ability to work flexible hours
- Must have basic computer skills
- Ability to meet departmental “on call” requirements
- Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintains current status
- Completes Mandatory Reporting requirement within 6 months of hire and renews this requirement every 5 years
- Adaptability to learn new instruments and table setups as required by surgical procedure
Qualifications
- High school diploma or certificate required with an interest in continuing education
- Preferred Certified Nursing Assistant or health care experience equivalent
- Preferred CRCST (Certified Registered Central Supply Technician) Certificate in the second year of employment
- Preferred CST (Certified Surgical Technician) Certificate will be accepted
