Weekend Baylor OR Aide

About the Role
As an OR Aide at MercyOne, you will be responsible for the cleaning, sterilization, distribution, and recording of patient reusable supplies and equipment, and the decontamination and assembly of instruments for the OR and throughout the hospital and Mercy Family clinics. The OR Aide / Instrument Technician ensures OR case carts are properly set up with all necessary instruments for surgical procedures. As a member of the surgical team, you will help provide a safe and secure environment for patients and staff, assisting in the implementation of AORN Standards of Care, MercyOne North Iowa, and Operating Room Policies and Procedures.
Responsibilities
- Clean, sterilize, distribute, and record patient reusable supplies and equipment.
- Decontaminate and assemble instruments for the OR and throughout the hospital and clinics.
- Set up OR case carts with all necessary instruments for surgical procedures.
- Assist in maintaining a safe and secure environment for patients and staff.
- Adhere to AORN Standards of Care, MercyOne North Iowa, and Operating Room Policies and Procedures.
- Adapt to learn new instruments and table setups as required by surgical procedures.
Requirements
- No prior experience required.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Basic computer skills.
- Ability to meet departmental “on call” requirements.
- Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) prior to employment or within 30 days of hire and maintain current status.
- Complete Mandatory Reporting requirement within 6 months of hire and renew every 5 years.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or certificate required, with an interest in continuing education.
- Preferred Certified Nursing Assistant or equivalent healthcare experience.
- Preferred CRCST (Certified Registered Central Supply Technician) Certificate within the second year of employment.
- Preferred CST (Certified Surgical Technician) Certificate.
