About the Role

We’re looking for a hands-on Website Manager to own the Shopify Plus ecosystem behind GratzPilates.com, including theme code, product data, apps, shipping, checkout, and connected systems. As the internal expert, you’ll explain technical tradeoffs to non-technical peers and craft creative solutions when off-the-shelf options fall short. You’ll collaborate closely with product management, marketing, customer service, and global services teams, while retaining sole technical ownership. This role focuses on building and scaling the website to support our growing customer base and revenue, not a rebuild.

Responsibilities

  • Site Build & Troubleshooting (Core Focus):
    • Build and publish new pages, landing pages, and site updates independently within the existing Shopify Liquid theme.
    • Create reusable templates and content structures (e.g., studio directory, blog, events page) for non-technical colleagues to manage.
    • Work within the existing codebase, APIs, and app connections; make reliable edits, troubleshoot methodically, and identify when deeper development support is needed.
    • Evaluate, install, configure, and troubleshoot third-party Shopify apps, deciding between plugins and custom solutions.
    • Use AI tools to streamline repetitive tasks, freeing time for strategy, QA, and higher-value development.
  • Scalable Systems & Product Structure:
    • Design product data structures (e.g., SKU architecture), templates, apps, and shipping/checkout rules with the full Shopify flow in mind.
    • Anticipate downstream impacts on customer service, fulfillment, tax, and reporting.
  • Customer Account, Checkout, Shipping:
    • Troubleshoot checkout issues with Ops and Finance, distinguishing between configuration fixes and custom app development needs.
    • Lead the transition to Shopify’s new customer accounts, assessing custom development or agency support requirements.
    • Maintain and evolve shipping tables, rules, international requirements, and exceptions, anticipating edge cases.
    • Work confidently within our PHP-based shipping app, including advanced configurations.
  • Web Optimization:
    • Own SEO and GEO implementation (page structure, keyword-aware content, metadata, image optimization, schema, performance) in collaboration with our agency.
    • Apply conversion-focused UX principles to improve product pages, collections, cart, and checkout.
    • Ensure strong visual design and brand consistency, especially on landing and collection pages.
  • Collaboration:
    • Serve as the go-to expert on the Shopify ecosystem for cross-functional teams.
    • Proactively flag downstream risks or friction.
    • Translate technical tradeoffs into clear, non-technical terms for stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Must-Have:
    • Bachelor’s degree.
    • 3-5 years of hands-on Shopify Plus development experience (Liquid, HTML, CSS, JavaScript).
    • Proven ability to work independently within an existing codebase and third-party app ecosystem.
    • Experience designing scalable product, template, or checkout structures with downstream dependencies in mind.
    • Solid SEO foundation with curiosity or experience in GEO/AI-search optimization.
  • Nice-to-Have:
    • Custom app development or API integration experience, especially for checkout or customer accounts.
    • Familiarity with PHP, particularly in shipping or logistics apps.
