Wealth Operations Technical Lead

Join a leading wealth management firm dedicated to delivering operational excellence through modern, scalable technology. As the Operations Software Engineering Lead, you will be responsible for owning and evolving the technology platforms that support custody and client operations.
Responsibilities
- Co-own the operations technology roadmap with the Head of Operations, aligning near- and long-term initiatives with business strategies and client needs.
- Define the target architecture for key operations platforms supporting custody and client operations, including post-trade processing, asset servicing, fees, data and tax operations, and trust accounting.
- Maintain a comprehensive understanding of the firm’s full operations technology stack, taking ownership of all tools, platforms, and integrations.
- Oversee and continuously improve back-office systems and integrations, with a primary focus on trust accounting and custody platforms (e.g., Global Plus).
- Partner with operations teams to translate business needs into technology solutions that streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
- Ensure stability, scalability, and performance of operational systems supporting daily business functions.
- Identify, design, and implement new technology solutions to enhance operational capabilities and drive efficiency across the organization.
- Promote innovation across technology and operational processes by leveraging automation and AI to reduce manual effort, improve accuracy, and enhance scalability.
- Contribute to long-term product and business strategy by interpreting future operational needs through a technology lens.
- Manage relationships with third-party technology vendors and service providers, overseeing performance and service delivery.
- Collaborate closely with operations leadership, technology teams, and external partners to ensure successful execution of initiatives.
- Ensure complete, accurate, and timely delivery of operational and management reporting to key stakeholders.
- Provide ongoing leadership, supervision, training, and development opportunities for team members.
- Foster a collaborative, high-performance culture focused on continuous improvement, accountability, and best practices.
- Manage staff performance, prioritize workloads, and support professional growth within the team.
- Act as a highly effective communicator, clearly articulating complex technical and operational concepts to senior leaders and non-technical audiences.
- Support organizational change management by promoting adoption of new technologies and processes across operations teams.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field
- 10+ years of experience in financial services, with a strong focus on software design
- Familiarity with Agile/Scrum frameworks for managing and delivering projects
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines using tools like BitBucket, Docker and Terraform
- Experience in using React for building responsive, user-centric web applications
- Knowledge of designing, developing, and managing APIs on platforms like WSO2, REST and GraphQL
- Understanding of investment operations, including custody management, asset servicing, and trust accounting
- Familiarity with transaction processing for equity, mutual funds, ETFs, and fixed-income instruments
- Strong strategic thinking with the ability to connect technology decisions to business outcomes
- Proven experience leading complex initiatives from concept through production and ongoing support
- Proven leadership in staff development, performance management, and team building
- Demonstrated ability to manage teams, prioritize competing demands, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive execution against a shared roadmap
- Passion for leveraging technology to improve operational efficiency and client service
Preferred Experience
- Working with Global Plus (strongly preferred)
- Familiarity with Charles River and related investment operations platforms
