About the role
We are seeking a Part-Time Nursing Assistant Certified at the Spokane Veterans Home to assist in delivering nursing and nursing-related care to vulnerable Veterans. The position is eligible for a 24/7 facility differential and requires a valid Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification.
Responsibilities
- Aid residents with positioning, transfers, and ambulation, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
- Respond to call lights, handle emergencies, and follow facility codes.
- Record care, vital signs, and observations; document intake/output.
- Assist residents with personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Support residents with therapies and treatments under the guidance of licensed personnel.
- Perform basic nursing procedures such as applying anti-embolism stockings and collecting specimens.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification.
- Active OBRA check.
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months experience in customer service or direct patient care.
- Experience with data entry and maintaining confidentiality.
- Ability to provide a positive living environment and follow written and verbal directions.
Preferred/Desired
- Accurate methods and practices to assist residents with activities of daily care.
- Experience with infection control procedures and residents' rights.
Special Requirements
- Pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two years.
- Comply with annual Tuberculin Screening.
- Maintain a valid practical nursing license.
- Wear appropriate personal protective equipment as required.
- Be able to lift up to 60 lbs. and perform physical tasks.
