About the role
We are seeking a Nursing Assistant Certified to provide essential quality of life care for Veterans at the Spokane Veterans Home. The position is full-time and permanent, with a 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM work schedule on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.
Responsibilities
- Aid residents with positioning, transfers, and ambulation while ensuring a safe and secure environment.
- Respond to call lights, handle emergencies, and follow facility codes.
- Record care, vital signs, and observations accurately.
- Assist residents with personal care tasks such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and hygiene.
- Support residents with therapies and treatments under the guidance of licensed personnel.
- Perform basic nursing procedures as directed.
Qualifications
- Current and valid Washington State Nursing Assistant Certification.
- Active OBRA check.
- Proficient in English, able to read, write, and speak English.
- High School diploma or GED.
- At least 6 months of relevant experience in health care settings or direct patient care.
- Ability to perform data entry, maintain confidentiality, and provide a positive living environment.
Preferred/Desired
- Accurate methods and practices to assist residents with activities of daily care, personal hygiene, sanitation methods, record keeping, reporting changes, infection control procedures, and residents' rights.
Special Requirements
- Pass a DSHS BCCU Background Check every two years.
- Comply with annual Tuberculin Screening.
- Maintain a valid practical nursing license.
- Complete required training and orientation.
- Follow DVA policies and procedures.
- Have a valid unrestricted driver's license and be insured for state business.
- Sign the confidentiality statement.
