WBCE Adjunct Faculty – Auto-Tech

About the role

CARROLL COMMUNITY COLLEGE is currently seeking adjunct faculty to teach continuing education students in entry level auto mechanic repair. Instruction focuses on the 4 main areas of auto repair including suspension/steering, brakes and electrical systems and engine performance. Courses will prepare students to be ASE entry-level certified in these areas.

Responsibilities

• Teach continuing education students in entry-level auto mechanic repair.
• Focus instruction on suspension/steering, brakes, electrical systems, and engine performance.
• Prepare students to achieve ASE entry-level certification in the specified areas.

Requirements

• Minimum of five years of experience in the auto-mechanic trade.
• Willingness to learn and provide instruction using trainers.
• Industry certification in each area of instruction or equivalent experience.
• Strong communication, presentation, and critical thinking skills.
• Teaching experience and additional relevant industry certifications preferred.

Physical Demands

• Light to medium level of physical effort requiring exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to hear/talk/communicate to exchange information.
• Visual acuity to perceive or detect surroundings.
• Mental acuity to focus, concentrate, understand and convey subject matter.
• Ability to perform repetitive motion (e.g., keyboarding).
• Ability to stand, sit, walk, and move or traverse from one area to another.

Work Environment

• College campus with direct contact with students, staff, faculty, and the general public in classrooms, common and shared areas, offices, and campus environments.
• Everyday risks or discomforts typical of office, meeting, and training rooms.
• Use of safe workplace practices with office equipment and computers for data entry and word processing with some highly technical applications and new technology systems.
• Observance of fire and building safety regulations and all College policies.
