Waterfront Assistant- Solano Campus Bridge Student Assistant
About the role
Work alongside waterfront crew maintaining vessels and shore side facility during the summer bridge program. Prepare all the Cal Poly Maritime Academy vessels for use in the Fall 2026-Spring 2027 school year. Employment duration is from May 4, 2026 to August 16, 2026. Job Summary
California State University Maritime Academy is an affiliate campus of California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo. It offers seven baccalaureate degrees and a Master of Science in Transportation and Engineering Management degree. The campus serves a student population of approximately 1000 undergraduates and 50 graduate students.
Job Duties
- Cleaning, prepping and painting of all vessels
- Repairing Floating Docks
- Maintenance of boathouse, pier and land
- Preparing Vessels for USCG Certificate of Inspection
Requirements
- Understanding of Safety Management Systems
- Proper use of Personal Protection Equipment
- Basic knowledge of prepping and painting
- Knowledge of Hazmat recognition and disposal
- Training in Forklift and crane operations

Pay
Hourly Rate: $16.90
Schedule
Part-time Hours to be Worked: Up to 40 hours per week (no overtime)
