About the role

JMT is seeking a highly motivated individual in the Syracuse, NY area to develop the water/wastewater section in a collaborative and progressive workplace. This position offers excellent potential for career advancement, including the opportunity to develop and lead the water/wastewater engineering practice in the region.

The candidate will oversee project delivery, staff development and growth, quality control processes, and business development planning and execution. Responsibilities include coordinating with clients, contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and internal staff. The successful candidate will also focus on the business side of the practice, including business development, client management, financial performance, staff development, and quality oversight.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate strategic growth plan with Office Leader, Service Line Leader, and Market Leaders.
• Establish and grow market presence in the area through marketing and business development.
• Manage the financial budget for the department and allocate resources accordingly.
• Lead and contribute to the production of proposals.
• Serve as a technical expertise resource to project managers and technical staff.
• Establish staffing needs for the section and interview/hire staff.
• Perform performance reviews for staff based on input from project managers.
• Lead and manage team members by providing leadership, setting expectations, goals, feedback, and coaching.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or a related field from an accredited program.
• Professional Engineer License in New York.
• 15+ years’ experience in a specialized discipline.
• Project management and business development experience.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with various municipal clients at the city, county, and state level.
• Involvement in local professional industry associations.
• Supervisory experience.

Working Conditions

Work is performed within a general office environment. Work is generally sedentary in nature but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate, with no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc.

Pay

$156,000–$198,000 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications.
