Water Wastewater Inspector
About the role
RVE is an Ardurra company seeking a water/wastewater inspector with 5+ years of experience in the field. The position involves inspecting gravity sanitary mains, force mains, pump stations, wastewater treatment plants, water main installations, water supply distribution systems, and water treatment plants. The role also includes inspecting storm sewer systems and roadway construction.
Responsibilities
- Perform constructability and plan reviews before construction begins.
- Interact with the design engineer to provide input before projects go out to bid.
- Manage construction projects involving water supply and sanitary distribution systems, including work in water and wastewater plants.
- Maintain a safe, neat, and orderly job site by ensuring contractors adhere to plans and specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Communicate daily with the project manager about project progress and keep clients informed.
- Attend and run pre-construction and weekly progress meetings with the client and contractor, providing input on issues arising during construction.
- Conduct on-site observations to assist the engineer in determining if work is proceeding according to contract documents.
- Keep a diary or logbook of observations and daily activities for ongoing work and provide the engineer with daily reports, including labor trades and equipment supplied by the contractor.
- Review applications for payment with the contractor and confer with the engineer on recommendations for progress payments.
- Be knowledgeable of NJDEP procedures and requirements for managing a project.
- Perform field testing of materials installed and start-up and acceptance of equipment.
- Prepare a final punch list at substantial completion and perform a final project review for project closeout.
- Support project documentation, reporting, and compliance with building codes.
- Serve as a liaison among contractors, project managers, regulatory agencies, and the community.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of construction observation or construction experience directly related to water supply and distribution systems, sanitary sewer collection, water/wastewater treatment systems, and roadway construction.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Computer literacy in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- NICET Certification a plus.
- NJDOT - Traffic Control Coordinator certification.
- New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technicians - Field Testing certification.
- NJDEP - Confined Space Training.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in water/wastewater inspections.
- Good communication skills, with the ability to work with others and the public.
- Self-motivated, organized, and focused with good attention to detail.
Skills
- Knowledge of NJDEP procedures and requirements for project management.
- Ability to climb ladders or crawl in tight spaces.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Outlook.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- NICET Certification.
- NJDOT - Traffic Control Coordinator certification.
- New Jersey Society of Asphalt Technicians - Field Testing certification.

Pay
The pay range for this position is $X/X per hour or $Y/Y annually, depending on experience and qualifications.
