About the role

The position involves installing, maintaining, operating, replacing, and repairing water mains, services, fire hydrants, water meters, and appurtenant valves and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Install, maintain, operate, replace, and repair water mains, services, fire hydrants, water meters, and appurtenant valves and equipment.
• May require a California State Water Resources Control Board Distribution Operator Grade D2 certificate prior to completion of the probationary period.
• Active military personnel may file for this examination but must provide proof of military service and satisfactory performance before appointment.
• Applicants must have a valid Class B (or A) driver’s license and a valid medical certificate approved by the DMV at the time of appointment.
• Candidates will be asked to submit a commercial driving history at the time of appointment.

Requirements

• Eighteen months of full-time paid experience in the installation, and either operation and/or maintenance of all of the following:
• Potable water services (excluding sprinkler experience), and Potable water supply and distribution pipelines such as mains, and/or trunk lines (need to be at least 6” and larger pipes irrigation lines), and Appurtenant valves and equipment.
• OR Eighteen months of full-time paid experience in the installation, and either operation and/or maintenance of all of the following while in the United States Armed Forces:
• Potable water services (excluding sprinkler experience), and Potable water supply and distribution pipelines such as mains, and/or trunk lines (need to be at least 6” and larger pipes irrigation lines), and Appurtenant valves and equipment.
