Responsibilities

• Under direct oversight from a Water Treatment Plant Operator II, III, IV, perform a variety of skilled work in the operation and maintenance of the City's water or wastewater treatment plant equipment and processes.
• For Water Treatment Plant Operator II: Monitor treatment processes, operate plant equipment, collect and analyze process data, analyze system performance via computerized control systems, and respond to changing plant conditions while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Requirements

• Minimum Qualifications for Water Treatment Plant Operator I (Underfill): A High School diploma or GED equivalency; some basic knowledge of advanced water or wastewater treatment facilities; preferred: knowledge of advanced computerized systems.
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months; Grade I operator certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

Qualifications

• Minimum Qualifications for Water Treatment Plant Operator II: A High School diploma or GED equivalency; two years' experience in advanced, complex water and/or wastewater treatment facility; experience with advanced computerized systems; experience in mechanical and electrical trouble shooting; or satisfactory completion of the Scottsdale Water/Wastewater Treatment Operator Apprentice Program or one year as a Scottsdale Water/Wastewater Operator I.
• Licenses and Certifications: Valid, unrestricted driver's license with no major citations within the past 39 months; Grade 2 operator certification from the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality.

Pay

• Anticipated starting salary for Water Treatment Plant Operator I: $29.13 - $39.34/hour, with a mid-point of $34.22/hour.
• Anticipated starting salary for Water Treatment Plant Operator II: $32.11 - $43.37/hour, with a mid-point of $37.72/hour.
