Water Resources Engineer – Senior Level (Hybrid)
About the role
Barr is seeking a senior water resources engineer to join our Minneapolis team. This hybrid role involves supporting the Water Resources group on hydrologic analysis, hydraulic analysis, water-quality analysis, report preparation, and client interactions.
Responsibilities
- Support hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water-quality modeling, GIS, and CADD work.
- Work with and/or oversee diverse teams of engineers and scientists.
- Aid in project planning, coordination, and execution.
- Ensure project milestones are met and provide regular updates to team members and clients.
- Develop and maintain client relationships; prepare proposals and manage business development.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, with a focus on water resources.
- Experience: 10–15 years of water resources engineering experience, focusing on hydrology, hydraulics, or water quality.
- Project management experience.
- Proposal and business development experience.
- Client management experience.
- Licenses/certifications: Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Software: Knowledge of hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, GIS, and CADD software.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
Qualifications

- Legal authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
Skills
- Technical knowledge: Water resources challenges such as precipitation and flooding data analysis, hydrologic and hydraulic modeling approaches, and commonly used software.

- Client relationships: Developing and maintaining client relationships; proposal and business development.

Pay
The anticipated range of compensation is $100,000–$130,000 annually, with a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. Employees in this position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance.
Schedule
This position is a hybrid work arrangement, allowing for a split between an office and home setting. It is based out of Barr's Minneapolis, Minnesota, office.
