Water Resources Engineer – Senior Level (Hybrid/Remote)

Barr is seeking a senior water resources engineer to join our team in Albuquerque, New Mexico. This hybrid role supports the Water Resources group on a variety of technical and project-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform hydrologic analysis related to stormwater planning and flood control.
• Conduct hydraulic analysis and design for rivers, streams, conveyances, dams, and other hydraulic structures, including 1-D and 2-D modeling.
• Execute scour analysis, watershed analysis, and streambank stability assessments.
• Prepare technical reports, plans, and specifications.
• Collaborate with clients, permitting agencies, and public officials.
• Work with and/or oversee diverse teams of engineers and scientists on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water-quality modeling, GIS, and CADD work.
• Apply technical knowledge to address water resources challenges such as precipitation and flooding data analysis, urban and rural hydrologic analysis, open channel and pipe flow analysis, hydraulic structures, bank stabilization and stream restoration, floodplain analysis and mapping, dam break analysis, and dam and levee analysis and design.
• Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing projects, ensuring milestones are met and providing regular updates to team members and clients.
• Develop and maintain client relationships, including proposal development and business development.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in civil or environmental engineering, with an emphasis on water resources.
• 15 or more years of water resources engineering experience with a focus on hydrology, hydraulics, or water quality.
• Experience with project management, proposals, business development, and client management.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Knowledge of commonly used hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software, GIS, and CADD software.
• Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
• Possession of a current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship by Barr, now or in the future.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree or PhD in civil or environmental engineering, with a focus on water resources.
• Experience with scour analysis and remediation.
• Experience leading projects in the energy industry.

Work Arrangement

A hybrid or remote work arrangement may be considered for this position. Hybrid refers to splitting time between a Barr office and a home office, while remote refers to working primarily from a home office. This position can be based out of Barr's Albuquerque, New Mexico, office. Remote arrangements will be considered based on candidate qualifications, local regulations, and Barr’s needs.

Pay

Anticipated range of $115,000–$130,000 annually. Compensation will vary based on relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary cash bonus based on team and individual performance. Classified as exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
