About the role
WRA is seeking an experienced Water Resources Engineer to join our Baltimore office. The ideal candidate will have 11 to 15 years of relevant experience in water resources engineering, with a proven ability to deliver high-quality projects across both public and private sectors. A Maryland PE license is required.
Responsibilities
- Lead and support the planning, analysis, design, and permitting of water resources projects, including:
- Stormwater management
- Hydrologic and hydraulic modeling
- Dam and embankment evaluation and breach modeling
- Floodplain studies
- Erosion and sediment control
- Prepare engineering plans, reports, specifications, and cost estimates.
- Manage and mentor junior engineering staff and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Conduct field investigations and site assessments.
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and other project stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Assist with proposal development and business development initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related field from an ABET accredited program; Master’s degree preferred.
- 11–15 years of progressive experience in water resources engineering.
- Active Maryland Professional Engineer (PE) license (or ability to obtain within 6 months, if registered elsewhere).
- Proficiency in water resources modeling software such as HEC-RAS (1D and 2D), HEC-HMS, SWMM, TR-55, and similar.
- Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D and/or MicroStation preferred.
- Strong understanding of Maryland environmental regulations and permitting processes.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines effectively.

Pay
The expected compensation range for this position is $140,000.00 - $215,000.00. The specific compensation offered may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and experience.
