Water Resources Engineer III
About the Role
RS&H is seeking a senior-level Water Resources Engineer to join our team in Charlotte, NC. This role involves providing professional engineering consultation in the planning, design, and coordination of large, complex projects, often requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures. You may serve as the team expert and/or project lead on large, complex multidisciplinary projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and evaluate engineering reports, plans, and specification criteria for a variety of projects, including engineering design, facility development, design detailing, code and criteria analysis, construction document production, and construction administration.
- Coordinate with a diversified project team, including client communication, proposal coordination, marketing, presentations, and management of other discipline-related activities.
- Prepare specifications, scaled drawings, and proposals.
- Ensure finished plans, specifications, and approval of materials and construction.
- Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments.
- Meet with clients to determine objectives and requirements for executing desired scope.
- Review junior staff's work for technical accuracy and provide technical guidance to other professionals and technicians.
- Lead a discipline team or small multidisciplinary teams to complete projects.
- Perform quality control reviews and ensure achievement of key milestones.
- Perform field reviews and observations of ongoing construction projects to maintain and increase understanding of construction practices and design applications.
- Maintain professional registration and licensure by ensuring conformance with professional, ethical, educational, and discipline practice requirements.
- Remain knowledgeable of all applicable federal, state, and local codes, criteria, regulations, and ordinances pertinent to the respective discipline.
- Supervise direct reports, including hiring, coaching, performance reviews, development conversations, and productivity management.
- Perform all other duties as assigned and within scope of practice.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Minimum ten years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
- Advanced level of oral, presentation, and written communication skills.
- Experience working on parts of a major project or multiple moderate-sized projects.
- Proven experience providing technical guidance to entry/junior-level staff, including reviewing others' work for technical accuracy.
