About the role

BKF is seeking a mid-to-senior level design engineer, with 6+ years of experience, to support our San Francisco office. This role collaborates closely with Project Managers and multidisciplinary BKF teams to deliver high-quality water infrastructure solutions while mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and contribute to the design and delivery of water infrastructure projects
  • Support project management activities, including scope development, schedules, budgets, coordination with internal teams, and technical deliverables
  • Prepare and review engineering calculations, technical reports, plans, and specifications
  • Coverage with clients, agencies, and stakeholders, including support of permitting processes and regulatory approvals
  • Apply BKF standards and best practices to ensure quality, consistency, and innovation in project delivery
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior engineers and designers
  • Collaborate across BKF service lines and disciplines to support integrated project delivery
  • Assist with proposal support and technical input for water resources and stormwater pursuits as needed

Requirements

  • 6+ years working on site development projects
  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
  • EIT is required, California Professional Engineer (P.E.) license is preferred

  • Strong interpersonal skills are essential within our close and client-focused environment
  • Strong initiative and technical problem-solving expertise

Skills

  • Strong technical understanding of the site development process
  • The ability to lead design efforts and support project management activities
  • A good understanding of hydrology and water resource analysis
  • A strong interest in improving these skills through work on site development projects of various scales that include forward-thinking water management strategies
  • Experience working on multidisciplinary design teams (landscape architects/architects/urban designers/planners)

Benefits

The typical base salary range for this position is $127,015 - $155,241, annualized depending upon skills, experience, education, and geographical location. This is a salary position paid biweekly.
