Water Resources Engineer III
About the Role
AECOM Technical Services, Inc. is seeking a Water Resources Engineer III in Raleigh, NC. This role involves overseeing hydrologic and hydraulic model development, reviewing staff modeling, and exercising judgment in workflow and engineering alternatives. The position also includes acting as an Independent Technical Reviewer for 1D and 2D hydrologic and hydraulic studies, contributing to FEMA flood map creation, and supporting pre-disaster mitigation and recovery planning projects.
Responsibilities
- Oversee hydrologic and hydraulic model development and review modeling performed by staff.
- Exercise judgment in developing details of workflow and adaptations of engineering alternatives.
- Propose modifications to selected engineering approaches when required.
- Develop novel methodologies to model flooding problems unique to specific regions or scenarios.
- Act as an Independent Technical Reviewer for 1D and 2D hydrologic and hydraulic studies to create FEMA flood maps.
- Review 1D studies and coordinate with production staff and project managers to ensure error correction and delivery of models.
- Develop hydrologic and hydraulic models to aid in the development of FEMA flood maps and other regulatory and non-regulatory products.
- Contribute to pre-disaster mitigation planning, post-disaster assessments, and recovery planning projects.
- Develop mapping products and visualization aids.
- Conduct field surveys.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with 2 years of experience as an Environmental Engineer, Civil Engineer, Wastewater Engineer, or in a related occupation.
- Alternatively, a Master's degree in Environmental Management, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field with no experience.
- Experience and skills can be gained through university-level coursework, projects, or internships.
Skills
- Proficiency in HEC-RAS (1D & 2D), ArcMap, ArcPro, HEC-HMS, EPA-SWMM, and PeakFQ.
- Hydrologic and hydraulic analyses of riverine systems.
- Flood hazard analysis and mapping.
- Floodplain management.
Pay
The offered rate of compensation for this position is USD 90,750 to USD 119,848 yearly, based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.
