Responsibilities
- Develop and implement a strategic growth plan for the Northwest US water market in coordination with the North America Water Market Leader and existing practice leads.
- Lead client engagement and business development, including identifying opportunities, generating leads, and maintaining relationships with clients and regulators.
- Mentor and grow a team of water professionals - providing guidance, development opportunities, and input on promotions, salaries, and training.
- Manage and advise Discipline Leads, ensuring effective team structure, succession planning, and ongoing coaching.
- Oversee project delivery, ensuring initiatives and projects are completed on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Identify and recruit local engineering talent, working with the Resource Manager and Talent Acquisition to plan resourcing, hiring, and long-term capability growth.
- Foster a collaborative, innovative, and high-performing culture aligned with Mott MacDonald values.
- Cook up with Development, Strategic Market, Practice, and Account Leaders to ensure a consistent and proactive approach to BD, pursuits, and client engagement across the Division.
- Develop and execute strategies to drive growth, improve performance, and strengthen market presence.
- Demonstrate strong leadership in upholding ethical standards, governance policies, and compliance with company procedures.
- Provide visible, strategic leadership, supporting senior leadership with guidance, coaching, and informed decision-making.
Qualifications
- Minimum 15 years of experience in the water sector and broader A/E/C industry.
- Active Washington State Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, marketing, science, or a related field.
- Strong, established relationships with local and water and wastewater utilities.
- Proven track record working with counties, municipalities, and public agencies across the Northwest US.
- Deep local market knowledge with the ability to build and sustain trusted long-term partnerships.
- Demonstrated success in client development, account management, and winning major infrastructure work.
- Ability to convert strong client relationships into revenue growth.
- Deep understanding of water, transportation, and infrastructure market dynamics.
- Skilled in strategic planning, teaming, proposal strategy, and negotiation.
- Experience supporting data-driven business development, including use of CRM tools.
- Collaborative, positive, and motivating leadership style.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills; able to influence at all levels.
- Demonstrated ability to mentor teams, identify improvements, and drive long-term strategic vision.
- Proven ability to maintain strong working relationships with regional public-sector clients.
