About the Role

You will assist the Managing Director in managing the entire hotel and driving excellence in guest experience and the overall success of The Langham Boston. The role focuses on delivering high standards in guest experience and colleague engagement, aligned with the culture and values of Langham Hospitality Group.

Responsibilities

  • Complete and record scheduled rounds for all building equipment; make adjustments and repairs as needed.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on HVAC equipment and address deficiencies in guest rooms.
  • Respond to all routine and emergency calls, determine the course of action, and resolve issues.
  • Monitor plant systems continuously via the Building Management System; make adjustments and physically check all abnormalities.
  • Operate high-pressure steam boiler per state law requirements and report all issues to the Engineer in Charge (EIC); fill out state log books.
  • Remain on-duty until properly relieved by the next shift engineer.
  • Generate a pass-on report email of all shift work performed, any abnormal conditions, and plant status.
  • Monitor and respond to all fire protection system alarms and troubles.
  • Perform boiler water chemistry tests.
  • Coordinate with managers and sub-contractors via phone to address work and issues.
  • Follow fire emergency procedures and understand the duties of all assisting personnel.
  • Adhere to all safety procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment and sustainability practices.
  • Follow all lock-out/tag-out procedures.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on auxiliary equipment and other assigned tasks.
  • Maintain all mechanical spaces in a clean, safe, and professional manner.
  • Assist in the on-boarding of incoming personnel.
  • Maintain all tools in safe condition and report deficiencies.
  • Assist other engineers and departments as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as requested by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to lift/carry up to 75 lbs., stand for extended periods, and perform physical activities including walking, climbing, kneeling, bending, reaching, and pushing/pulling.
  • Ability to safely operate hand and power tools.
  • Strong written and verbal English communication skills and basic computer proficiency (email, spreadsheets, building management systems).
  • Working knowledge of HVAC systems, fans, pumps, hand and power tools, and general equipment maintenance and repair; basic electrical and plumbing skills preferred.
  • Must maintain all required licenses in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws.
  • Two years of HVAC or other facility maintenance experience desired.
  • Hotel experience preferred.
  • Must be available to work primarily PM shifts, including two overnight shifts on Friday and Saturday during the week.

Pay

$36.34 - $36.64 per hour
