The Watch Commander

The Watch Commander is responsible for overseeing and supporting the day-to-day security operations of an assigned shift to ensure a safe and secure environment of care for all patients, visitors, staff, and property on the premises. The Watch Commander ensures that all security services are delivered professionally and in alignment with Huntington Health policies and values. This role requires excellent judgment, leadership, and the ability to resolve high-risk situations calmly and effectively.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and support day-to-day security operations
• Ensure a safe and secure environment of care for all patients, visitors, staff, and property
• Resolve high-risk situations calmly and effectively
• Support the delivery of professional security services
• Align security services with Huntington Health policies and values

Requirements

• High school (HS) diploma or GED
• Minimum four (4) years of relevant experience in security, law enforcement, or military
• Minimum one (1) year of relevant experience in Healthcare setting
• Current California (CA) driver’s license and must be insurable under Huntington's liability insurance
• Current Basic Life Support Provider (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
• Current CA Guard Card issued by the CA Bureau of Security & Investigative Services (BSIS)

Skills

• Must read, write, speak English fluently
• Basic computer knowledge required, proven experience with Microsoft Office and other hospital related programs preferred
• Basic report writing skills
• Demonstrated success with security specific software and technologies

Qualifications

• Flexibility in scheduling and availability to work alternate shifts is required to meet operational needs

Pay

The estimated base rate for this position is $33.33 - $50.00. Additional individual compensation may be available for this role through differentials, extra shift incentives, bonuses, etc.
