About the role
IMEG is hiring a Wastewater Project Designer in Rock Island, IL, to lead civil design efforts as a project manager or lead engineer for low- to moderate-complexity projects and support delivery of larger, high-complexity work alongside senior staff.
Responsibilities
- Direct and train Civil Design Technicians to support completion of project reports, exhibits, plans and specifications, and permit applications per contractual scope
- Lead design efforts for the analysis and civil site design of commercial, residential, and industrial projects
- Utilize engineering software and tools to develop designs, specifications, and calculations per code requirements and IMEG standards
- Complete and oversee permit applications in coordination with the project team, client, and reviewing jurisdiction
- Support projects through bidding and construction administration
- Interact with clients to gather requirements and communicate technical information; build and maintain client relationships through professional communication
- Lead project planning, budgeting, and scheduling to meet deadlines and objectives
- Document design decisions and client instructions; monitor design progress relative to percent complete and fee expended
- Analyze engineering problems and develop practical, efficient solutions in collaboration with senior engineers and consultants
- Prioritize safety and regulatory compliance; interpret and apply state and local design criteria to project needs
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and escalate potential project issues to the Project Manager as needed
Qualifications
- Knowledge of industry standard engineering software, primarily Civil 3D
- Proficient with pipe networking and road corridors
- Proficiency in design techniques, tools, and concepts involved in the production of technical plans and specifications
- Strong technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles in the civil engineering field
- Able to train and mentor less experienced staff
- Able to lead teams with others that utilize industry standard software that assists with civil engineering analysis and design
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
- Able to work collaboratively in a team environment
- Eagerness to adapt to new challenges
- Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Civil Engineering, or equivalent required
- Engine-In-Training (EIT) certification preferred
- 3 years of experience minimum required, 4 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR Associates degree, or certificate, in utilizing Autodesk Civil 3D or equivalent software tools or engineering preferred
- 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
- Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook

Pay
Salary Range: $77,000 – $98,000
