Waste Treatment Operator

About the role

Effectively work with plant staff regarding Environmental Compliance. Monitor and assist in day-to-day activities, delegate work to seasonal helpers, and report progress, concerns, and upcoming tasks to the plant manager. Responsible for the upkeep of the seasonal Migrant camp.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for proper repair and maintenance of irrigation and related equipment, monitor pumps, tank, irrigation lines, and pivot systems
• Complete daily irrigation tasks in a timely and efficient manner
• Conduct safety audits, inspections, and training for employees
• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations
• Monitor run-off, lift stations and rainfall and report to supervisor
• Drive company vehicle from plant to irrigation site
• Take water samples as required
• Maintain cost controls over equipment for budget purposes
• Prepare the fields (mow, seed etc.)
• Collect data and prepare reports
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Willingness and ability to work in a team environment
• Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office Package
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to read and write the English language
• Good written and oral communication skills
• Ability to make minor repairs to pumps and other equipment preferred
• Ability to operate tractors, mowers, aerators, and truck and small hand, power tools
• Illinois certified waste water operator preferred or ability to obtain certification
• High School Diploma or GED

Pay

Wage range from $35 to $40 per hour, based on skills, abilities, and experience.
