Waste Treatment Operator

About the role
The Waste Treatment Operator will monitor and assist in day-to-day activities, delegate work to seasonal helpers, and report progress, concerns, and upcoming tasks to the plant manager. This role is also responsible for the upkeep of the seasonal Migrant camp and ensuring environmental compliance.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for proper repair and maintenance of irrigation and related equipment, including monitoring pumps, tanks, irrigation lines, and pivot systems.
- Complete daily irrigation tasks in a timely and efficient manner.
- Conduct safety audits, inspections, and training for employees.
- Ensure compliance with environmental regulations.
- Monitor run-off, lift stations, and rainfall; report findings to supervisor.
- Drive company vehicle from plant to irrigation site.
- Take water samples as required.
- Maintain cost controls over equipment for budget purposes.
- Prepare fields (mow, seed, etc.).
- Collect data and prepare reports.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Willingness and ability to work in a team environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Package.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to read and write in English; good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to make minor repairs to pumps and other equipment (preferred).
- Ability to operate tractors, mowers, aerators, trucks, and small hand/power tools.
- Illinois certified wastewater operator preferred or ability to obtain certification.
- High School Diploma or GED.
Pay
Wage range based on skills, abilities, and experience from $35 to $40 per hour.
