Washington and Regulatory Research Associate Analyst

About the role

The Washington and Regulatory Research Associate Analyst (AA) plays a crucial role in analyzing regulatory, legal, and policy decisions affecting markets and stocks. This position involves working closely with Research Analysts and Portfolio Managers to integrate public policy analysis into the investment process. The AA will contribute to cross-sector research and collaborate with teams such as Legislative and Regulatory Affairs, Risk, ESG, and Corporate Governance.

Responsibilities

• Conduct in-depth analysis of regulatory, legal, and policy decisions at various levels of government, including federal and local.
• Forecast likely outcomes of these decisions and their implications for markets and specific companies.
• Write and publish internal research reports and present key findings to the investment team.
• Engage stakeholders, including subject matter experts and policy contacts, to ensure timely access to relevant information.
• Collaborate with colleagues in different departments to develop comprehensive research projects.
• Facilitate meetings with subject matter experts and policy contacts, and travel to meet with and interview relevant individuals.
• Provide investment insights and influence the investment process.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree with a strong academic record required and 1+ years of relevant equity research, investment banking, or similar industry experience.
• Demonstrated ability to conduct in-depth thematic research across a broad spectrum of topics.
• Rigorous academic background with a demonstrated interest in finance and intellectual curiosity.
• Completion of at least Level 1 of the CFA is preferred.
• Highly motivated, confident self-starter with the ability to work independently and with others.
• Effective communication skills (verbal and written).
• FINRA licenses are not required but will not be supported for this role.

Work Flexibility

This role is eligible for hybrid work, allowing up to one day per week from home.

Pay

Base Salary Range: $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 for the location of: Maryland, Colorado, Washington and remote workers; $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 for the location of: Washington, D.C.; $110,000.00 - $140,000.00 for the location of: New York, California.
