About the role
The 3rd shift Wash Bay Lead reports to the Wash Bay Manager and is primarily responsible for ensuring Wash Bay objectives are met in an efficient and safe manner. The position requires multitasking and problem-solving skills to ensure exceptional service delivery, operational accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Safely drive and park buses in and out of the Wash Bays
- Assist Wash Bay Manager with scheduling vehicles for cleaning
- Ensure Wash Bay Associates are cleaning vehicles and facilities as instructed
- Plow and salt at Janesville base and terminals as necessary
- Maintain flexibility on work hours and work days to monitor Wash Bay personnel and operations
- Work weekends, holidays, and evenings as scheduled
- Report discipline and performance issues regarding Wash Bay personnel and drivers to Wash Bay Manager
- Ensure all “Lost & Found” property found in any company vehicles is turned into Operations as soon as possible
- Ensure Wash Bay personnel are utilizing personal protective equipment as needed
- Recommend and promote changes to the Wash Bay operations that yield efficient results
- Maintain a positive attitude while on-duty
- Manage job-related stress from high volume work, including last minute changes, staffing and performance issues, work deadlines, incidents/accidents, and unpredictable events
- Perform Wash Bay personnel duties as instructed or as needed in the absence of instruction
- Perform Motor Coach and/or School Bus operations as instructed based on skills and abilities
Requirements
- Must possess strong communication skills
- Proven ability to plan, assign, and delegate the work of subordinates
- Strong organization and time management skills
- Obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License, Passenger Endorsement, and have Air Brakes Restriction removed from license
- Constant standing, grasping, repetitive motions with hands and feet, talking, reaching, and turning/twisting
- Frequent lifting of up to 10-20 lbs
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds with minimal exertion
- Must be able to stand for entire 10-hour shift including walking up/down steps in and out of buses
- Should be agile to move between bus seats and rows
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Able to work in sometimes warm or cold environments depending on the temperature outside
