Laundry Lead

About the role

Prism Specialties is seeking an individual to join our team as a Laundry Technician. The primary responsibilities include transporting and operating commercial washing machines and dryers, sorting and loading textiles, evaluating items for cleaning, and managing the workflow to ensure efficient processing.

Responsibilities

• Transporting and operating commercial washing machines and dryers.
• Sorting and loading water/smoke contaminated textiles into washers and clean, wet textiles into dryers or drying rooms.
• Evaluating items based on color, care type, and necessity for hand cleaning or hanging to dry.
• Participating in and directing hand cleaning tasks such as shoes, boots, purses, large bags, or electronic devices.
• Proceeding to hand press items and folding clean, dry items into groups of like types.
• Controlling the flow of jobs from room to room to ensure timely processing.
• Managing the time between washing cycles, hand cleaning, and drying times to prevent machine idleness.
• Keeping accurate records of loads per job and monitoring supply inventory including soaps, hangers, plastics, and packaging materials.
• Assisting in other departments as assigned.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Experience preferred, but on-site training is provided.
• Must be able to manage time efficiently during processing cycles.
• Must be organized and maintain personal cleanliness.
• Must be able to lift/carry up to 50 pounds, push/pull up to 50 pounds, stand, bend, and walk for extended periods.
• Must be able to work around smoke or water damaged clothing.
• Must live within the service area.
