Primary Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical warranty diagnostics and repairs
  • Correct major repair problems and difficult diagnostic tasks
  • Makes minor and major repairs to engines, chassis and appurtenances of mechanical equipment
  • Makes repairs, adjustments or replacement of parts and directs other kinds of servicing and maintenance work required
  • Determines the necessity for new parts and equipment, and makes requisitions
  • Create bill of material (BOM), record labor time, and write detailed repair orders
  • Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems, using electronic testing equipment
  • Repair, overhaul, or adjust automobile brake systems
  • Test electronic computer components in automobiles to ensure proper operation
  • Align wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars, and steering mechanisms of automobiles, using special alignment equipment and wheel-balancing machines
  • Tune automobile engines to ensure proper and efficient functioning
  • Repair, replace, or adjust defective fuel injectors, carburetor parts, and gasoline filters
  • Change spark plugs, fuel filters, air filters, and batteries in hybrid electric vehicles
  • Replace defective mufflers and tailpipes
  • Diagnose and replace or repair engine management systems or related sensors for flexible fuel vehicles (FFVs) with ignition timing, fuel rate, alcohol concentration, or air-to-fuel ratio malfunctions
  • Test electronic computer components in automobiles to ensure proper operation
  • Create bill of material (BOM), record labor time, and write detailed repair orders
  • Test, examine, adjusting, servicing and repair of autos

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Perform Port Upgrade Programs (Service Campaigns)
  • Review port upgrade program instructions prior to vehicle evaluation
  • Perform vehicle testing in preparation for adjustment
  • Perform Port Upgrade Programs, official service campaigns
  • Testing, examination, adjusting, servicing and repair of autos
  • Inspect for quality issues with units prior to shipping
  • Professionally and courteously interact with other employees, customers, and truck drivers concerning any defects in finished products
  • Inspect vehicles for damage and record findings so that necessary repairs can be made

Compliance & Safety

  • Maintain safe working environment and follow all policies and procedures regarding safety
  • Review reports and observation of the efficiency of the shop
  • Keep up knowledge of MSDS, EPA, and OSHA regulations

Compensation

$29.26 - $30.44 per hour

Knowledge and Skills Required

  • Perform mechanical warranty diagnostics and repairs
  • Drive automatic and stick shift vehicle
  • Troubleshoot fuel, ignition, and emissions control systems, using electronic testing equipment
  • Correct major repair problems and difficult diagnostic tasks
  • Perform Port Upgrade Programs, official service campaigns
  • Align wheels, axles, frames, torsion bars, and steering mechanisms of automobiles, using special alignment equipment and wheel-balancing machines

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma/G.E.D
  • Required minimum 3 years of experience in Automotive Repair and/or Vehicle Maintenance
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must keep up with all certification courses that are required for all OEM customers, CA driver's license

Physical Requirements

  • Constantly use right and left foot controls
  • Frequent lift and carry usual 50 lbs.
  • Stand, walk, climb, reach over shoulder, balance, push, pull, squat, crawl, crouch 5+ hours per day
  • Sit, drive, bend, stoop, jump 1-3 hours per day
  • Kneel frequently 3-5 hours per day

Working and Environmental Conditions

  • Based out of the Port Hueneme, CA office at a plant manufacturing/warehousing environment
  • Exposure to change in temperature - indoor/outdoor work
  • Exposure to dust, fumes, gases, chemicals, auto exhaust etc.
  • Will be working with Auto Lift and hand tools
