Warehouseman
About the role
Under the direction of a Warehouse Foreman or Leadman, perform inventory, issuing, receiving, and storage of equipment and materials, and maintain associated records. Work safely and effectively in all assigned duties.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Warehouse Foreman or Leadman in accounting for and maintaining supplies, materials, and equipment.
- Read and interpret material pick lists to ensure proper materials and quantities are issued and returned according to procedures.
- Operate material handling equipment such as forklifts, flatbed trucks, and pallet jacks for issuance and receipt of materials and supplies.
- Perform physical inventories to determine stock levels and notify Warehouse Foreman or Leadman of impending shortages.
- Maintain good housekeeping practices in the Warehouse and outside storage laydown yards.
- Pick up, deliver, and haul materials to crews upon request.
- Receive and process all warehouse inventory into the inventory management system.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Relationships
- Internal:
- Reports to Warehouse Foreman or Leadman; receives work assignments and guidance.
- Coordinates and exchanges information with other Chugach departments.
- External:
- Maintains professional relationships with agencies, engineers, contractors, utilities, and vendors to support Warehouse activities.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum of two (2) years or 4,000 hours of experience as a warehouseman or material handler for an Electrical Utility or Distribution and Transmission Contractor.
- Ability to repeatedly lift and/or handle objects consistent with Federal and State safety standards.
- Ability to learn new materials and procedures as required.
- Valid Alaska Driver’s License.
- Medical Examiner’s Certificate as required by the State of Alaska.
- Current Red Cross First Aid/CPR Certificate or State of Alaska equivalent.
