About the role
Scholastic Book Fairs partners with schools nationwide to host over 127,000 book-sale events annually, giving more than 35 million students and families access to affordable, educational products and fostering a lifelong love of reading. This full-time Warehouse Team Lead position supports the local branch team in executing day-to-day warehouse operations, helping to encourage reading and promote lifelong learning while demonstrating Scholastic’s values of caring and respect for all people.
Responsibilities
- Assist with new-hire orientation and train associates on Product Coordinator – Level I, II, and III functions.
- Under the supervision of a Warehouse Supervisor or Branch Manager, direct a small team in one or more functional areas (e.g., Case Production, Table Production, UPS, Fair Finishing, second shift).
- Train, coach, mentor, and motivate the warehouse team.
- Serve as the designated branch trainer for all new processes and procedures.
- Assist the Warehouse Supervisor in planning and presenting daily start-up meetings.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
- Basic proficiency with product scanners (e.g., ordering replenishment) with minimal errors.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to get along with co-workers and lead/direct other employees.
- Good verbal and written communication skills, basic math skills, and ability to read documents in English (e.g., safety rules, operating instructions, procedure manuals).
- Forklift experience is a plus (certification requires at least 18 years of age).
Physical Demands
- Lift boxes up to 50 lbs occasionally on a daily basis.
- Lift boxes up to 30 lbs to a height of 70" occasionally on a daily basis.
- Push wheeled cases weighing in excess of 300 lbs, with an initial force of up to 50 lbs and sustained force of up to 30 lbs.
- Stand, reach above and below shoulders, squat, bend, and kneel as necessary.
- Work in a non-air-conditioned environment.
- Accurately follow specific instructions for multiple detailed assembly processes.
- Regularly use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
- Frequently stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Occasionally sit, climb, or balance.
- Vision abilities required: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
