Responsibilities
- Oversee the smooth, safe, and efficient functioning of the warehouse, directing day-to-day activities of Material Handlers and Drivers in functions such as receiving, inventory control, cycle counting, picking, packing, shipping, customer deliveries, and fleet management.
- Ensure customers receive the Right Product, at the Right Time, and in the Right Condition in a clean, safe, and productive environment.
- Assist Warehouse Manager, Branch Manager, or Regional Ops Manager with recommendations on staffing, budget, and financial objectives.
- Foster teamwork, collaboration, and exceptional customer service by leading by example.
- Monitor warehouse performance against goals and adjust procedures to meet objectives.
- Ensure accurate receipt, labeling, and stocking of products by monitoring daily processing workload and directing labor needs while following distribution SOPs.
- Oversee order fulfillment by monitoring workload, checking shipping documents, routing freight, coordinating emergency shipments, and ensuring SOPs are followed.
- Maintain a safe work environment by observing and coaching employees, removing hazards, conducting safety inspections, and participating in safety committees.
- Conduct regular equipment and facility safety inspections, ensuring timely repairs and adherence to safety procedures.
- Manage department staff through hiring recommendations, training, coaching, counseling, disciplining, and performance reviews.
- Communicate daily staffing needs with leadership and recommend solutions for workload management.
- Maintain branch security and ensure lift equipment operators are tested and certified.
- Assist in maintaining accurate inventory through cycle counts, monitoring put-away activities, and resolving discrepancies.
- Supervise or perform system adjustments based on cycle counts, short picks, or audits.
- Resolve receiving discrepancies by researching problems and liaising between parties.
- Maintain proficiency in picking, stocking, and replenishment, and operate powered equipment (e.g., forklift, electric pallet jack, cherry picker).
- Provide backup leadership support when the Warehouse Manager or Branch Manager is away and serve as a backup driver as needed.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, adhering to company values and contributing to success wherever necessary.
Requirements
- High school diploma or G.E.D.; 3+ years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 1 year in a lead or supervisory role in a warehouse environment.
- Experience operating forklifts and other warehouse equipment safely and competently.
- Experience with inventory management systems and OSHA/safety regulations.
- Valid driver’s license with a safe driving record acceptable to the company.
- Forklift certification required (or willingness to obtain on the job).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in inventory control.
- Experience using ERP software in a warehouse environment.
- Knowledge of HVAC wholesale industry principles and practices.
Skills
- Knowledge of warehouse operations (shipping, receiving, inventory control, freight).
- Familiarity with inventory management systems and order picking processes.
- Ability to perform basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
- Strong safety awareness and ability to model safe working practices.
- Proficiency in operating power equipment (forklift, electric pallet jacks, cherry picker).
- Ability to lift, push, pull, and maneuver large/heavy products or equipment safely.
- Proficiency with RF equipment and ERP software.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision under stressful conditions.
- Leadership skills to motivate teams and align with company goals.
- Strong communication skills to interact with individuals, departments, and external parties.
- Knowledge of HR principles, including hiring, training, coaching, and disciplining employees.
- Ability to plan, organize, and direct subordinate activities.

Physical Demands
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk on a concrete floor for extended periods.
- Regularly required to reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds; may lift heavier weights with mechanical or team assistance.
- For driving duties (if applicable), ability to sit for long periods and tolerate bouncing/vibration.
- Frequent talking and hearing; special vision requirements include near, distance, peripheral, and color vision.
